Leading pet food manufacturer, Pets Choice along with food processing experts, DC Norris have recently been recognised at the Gulfood Manufacturing Excellence Awards for their creation of a new innovative pet food plant.
The businesses were presented with the award for ‘Most Innovative Processing Solution’, at Gulfood, the world’s largest food machinery exhibition in Dubai, where the awards were held on 29th October 2019.
Pets Choice appointed DC Norris in March 2018, with the task of developing a modern solution for their new plant at the pet food manufacturer’s site based in Blackburn, Lancashire.
Launched in April 2019, DC Norris created the method of cooking/sterilising wet pet food in the pipework using an innovative ‘Jet Cook’ system, rather than in a vessel which is the most common method used.
Peter Birch, head of operations at Pets Choice said: “We were very excited to hear the news of the award and have been really pleased with the overall results of the new Jet Cook system.
“Implementing this new method has allowed us to produce product in a faster and more automated system, providing us with better consistency and control.”
